Description
Hex bolt, also known as hex cap bolt or machine bolt, is a form of threaded fastener with an external male thread and a six-sided head. With halfway extended threads, the shaft performs better as a dowel for pinning the joint against sideways shear force compared with those of tap bolts.
Hex bolts are closely related to, often confused with hex screws, but different in shape and how they are used. Normally, a hex screw has a washer face under the hexagonal head and a chamfered thread, but a hex bolt doesn& acute;t. Meanwhile, a hex bolt is typically used with nuts and washers to create a bolted joint. In contrast, a hex screw forms its own join in the component being fastened, without using a nut.
We all know that each different material has particular traits to accommodate specific application. To suit wide needs of our clients, our company offers quality hex bolts from M6 to M24, in both carbon steel and stainless steel as shown below:
Steel, an alloy of iron and steel, is the most common material used in hex bolts because of its high tensile strength and low cost. Normally, our hex bolts are available in grade 4.8, 8.8, 10.9 even 12.9 to suit different strength requirements. Meanwhile, various platings, including clear zinc and yellow zinc can be applied to steel hex bolts for added anti-corrosion property.
Stainless steel as steel alloy containing at least 10.5% chromium, is famous for its excellent corrosion resistance, which makes it extensively used in marine and coastal areas. Normally, we choose SS 304 and SS 316 as own main materials for manufacturing quality hex bolts. SS 304 is the most common designation for general hardware use. And SS 316 is more anti-corrosive against salt water and chlorine, yet more expensive than SS 304.
