Secondary operations add cost as I indicated - but they add quality and appearance as well. I have seen few lenses utilizing the injection mould finish utilized to create opacity. Your competitors experience should be your final guide - and I think you will find that their experience with injection mould finishes to create opacity have been as mine have. There has been very little said about money. This is one of the most competitive injection moulding in China, and it& acute;s the low price that has made it so popular. The injection mould/part design is critical, of course, but unless you are starting from scratch, you already have an injection mould manufacturer. Next important are the prices of the various PPs -- what gives you the most rigidity per dollar/euro etc.? Calcium carbonate (chalk) is a cheap and good filler, but it isn& acute;t all the same: particle size/shape and surface treatment make a difference.
