Description:

Hot in-place recycling

A kind of preventability maintenance technology, which could repair damages that irrelevant to base course load capacity or pavement structure, such as rutting, crack, decompaction, friction coefficient reduction, asphalt flushing, vertical& horizontal crack, reflection crack, roughness descent, pot hole and stripping, tec.

Advantages:

Comparing to traditional road maintenance method, hot in-place recycling has numerous advantages, which lies in:

①. Effectively reduce the cost of highway maintenance

As traditional ways of renovation of asphalt pavement, asphalt mixture would be fully milled off before repaving of new mixture, however, hot in-place recycling technology could make 100% use of original pavement material, only with adding of regenerant and a small quantity of mixture, which saves large sums of materials expenses, transport charge and waste disposal fee, consequently reducing highway maintenance cost and saving engineering cost above 40%.

②. Effective use of irreversible natural resources

Both asphalt binder and aggregate belong to irreversible natural resources. During construction of hot in-place recycler, realization of reusability of above two materials ensures the effective utilization of natural resources.

③. Being of great value in environmental protection

During maintenance of asphalt pavement, pollution caused by dust would be effectively reduced through application of hot in-place recycling technology. Reusability of original material prevents those non-degradable waste material from being discarded or buried, avoiding pollution against environment.

④. Reduce traffic jam

Due to the small demand for new material on site, number of necessary trucks would be greatly reduced, also, influence caused by construction vehicle against traffic would be greatly reduced. During construction of hot in-place recycler, only limited distance of certain lane is required to close according to traffic flow, when other lanes remain normal traffic. In addition, traffic would be reopened after temperature of constructed road surface dropping below 50℃, which would minimize traffic jam brought by closing construct.

Daily construction capacity could reach more than 2KM(single lane).

Because of completely heat bonding between recycled pavement and original middle course in both vertical and horizon direction, joint quality could be ensured to bring a significant promotion in pavement construction quality. In addition, its high degree of mechanization avoids the influence of human factors against construction quality.

⑦. Effectively make up for the quality deviation of original pavement construction

Parameters like asphalt-aggregate ratio should be adjusted upon adding new materials before hot in-place recycling construction, which could effectively improve common construction problems like poor flatness, unqualified aggregate composition, inaccurate asphalt-aggregate ratio and unqualified water penetration index.

⑧.Effectively handling pavement transverse crack

Transverse crack would be handled through sticking Fiberglass-Polyester paving mat during hot in-place recycling, meanwhile micro-crack of middle surface course would also be improved.
